8 DAY KIMBERLEY 4WD TOUR ITINERARY
Day 1: Broome to Napier range
Your Kimberley adventure kicks off with an early morning pick-up from your accommodation by our expert guide. The excitement begins as we journey from Broome to Derby, where you'll marvel at the ancient Boab Prison Tree, a remarkable natural wonder estimated to be around 1000 years old. Our cultural immersion continues with a visit to the Mowanjum Art Gallery, where you’ll gain fascinating insights into the local indigenous culture.
In the afternoon, we head to Windjana Gorge for a scenic walk through its stunning landscapes, teeming with wildlife. As the day draws to a close, a short drive takes us to our specially arranged remote accommodation, where you’ll spend the night under a canopy of stars in unparalleled tranquility.

Day 2: Napier range to Bush Camp*
After a restful night’s sleep in our serene bush camp, we embark on an early morning adventure to Tunnel Creek. This 350-million-year-old natural tunnel, carved through the ancient Devonian reef system of the Napier Range, offers a fascinating subterranean exploration.
Following our exploration of Tunnel Creek, we return to the Gibb River Road, continuing our journey through the stunning outback landscapes. Our destination for the evening is another beautifully remote bush camp, where you will spend the night under the vast, star-filled sky.

Tonight’s bush camp location is determined by your guide, based on the availability of camping spots. Upon arrival, you will find everything set up for you, allowing you to simply relax and enjoy your evening around the campfire, beneath the sparkling outback stars.

Day 3: Bush camp to Mt Barnett Station
By now, you will have realized that "bush camp" is a modest term for our incredible camp setups. Today is dedicated to exploring the stunning landscapes of the West Kimberley, with your guide choosing the day’s destinations based on their expert knowledge and the group’s interests. Possible locations include the breathtaking Adcock and Galvans Gorges, or perhaps a hidden gem known only to your guide.
In the evening, we will set up camp in a communal camping area, preparing for the next day’s adventures.

Accommodation: Mt Barnett Campground, known for its picturesque setting and tranquil nights
Morning Walk and Swim: Enjoy the walks today in an out of water all day, but good shoes are suggested as some of the gorges can be quite tricky. Also, please be mindful to drink water as it can become quite hot in the late morning.
Day 5: elenbrae station to El Questro Main Station
Today's journey takes us across the mighty Pentecost River and introduces us to the awe-inspiring Cockburn Ranges, one of the most iconic landscapes in the Kimberley. This stunning scenery leads us to the world-renowned El Questro Station. In the afternoon, we embark on a challenging yet breathtaking walk through Emma Gorge, culminating in a refreshing swim at the end of the trail. After the walk, we make way to one of the private camps, nestled away in the Cockburn range.

Pentecost River Crossing: Experience the thrill of crossing this iconic river and take in the majestic views of the Cockburn Ranges.
El Questro Station: Explore one of the Kimberley’s most famous destinations, renowned for its natural beauty and adventure opportunities.
Emma Gorge Walk: Enjoy a challenging but rewarding trek through Emma Gorge, with a chance to swim in its pristine waters at the end of the trail.
Day 7: Purnululu National Park
Prepare for an awe-inspiring day as we set out on a beautiful early morning walk to the magnificent Cathedral Gorge. This stunning natural amphitheater will leave you speechless with its grandeur and acoustics. Afterward, thrill to a 15-minute helicopter flight over the world heritage-listed beehive-shaped Bungle Bungles, offering a breathtaking bird's-eye view of this unique landscape.
In the afternoon, we explore the north side of the park, including the fascinating Echidna Chasm. As the day draws to a close, we chase the sunset in this mesmerizing park, capturing the beauty of the Kimberley in its golden glow. This day features moderate walks leading to some of the most iconic spots in the region.

As we spend another night in the national park, everything will be prepared for a memorable final night together. Our staff will also be coordinating accommodations in Kununurra for a timely drop-off on the last day.

Day 4: Mt Barnett Station to Ellenbrae station
Begin your day with a refreshing 6 km round-trip walk to Manning Gorge, featuring a swim at the halfway point. After returning to the Mt Barnett campsite for a hearty lunch, we embark on an afternoon drive along the iconic Gibb River Road, heading towards the enchanting Ellenbrae Station for the evening. Although the drive can be challenging, the stunning destination makes it all worthwhile.

Accommodation: Tonight, we Camp on one of the last stations to be taken up in the Kimberley cattle run, no waterfalls here but a special treat from Elenbrae Station upon arrival really makes the day special.
Morning Walk and Swim: Enjoy an invigorating walk to Manning Gorge with a refreshing swim before today’s onward journey. Nice and cool walk in the morning. Please be mindful to drink water as it can become quite hot in the late morning on the way back.
Day 6: El Questro Station to Purnululu National Park
We begin the day with an early morning swim in Zebedee Springs, a stunning crystal-clear hot water pool. This picturesque and serene start is not too challenging but undoubtedly beautiful. After soaking in the non-volcanic thermal pools for about an hour, we spend the rest of the day driving towards the Bungle Bungles, arriving in the late afternoon.

The drive includes a mix of highway and some of the roughest roads in the Kimberley, particularly the final 53 km, renowned for their excitement and challenge.
Important Note: Being in a national park, campfires are not permitted, but you will still enjoy all the other TravelWell niceties at our campsite.

Day 8: purnululu National Park to Kununurra
On our final morning, we enjoy a leisurely breakfast before making our way back to Kununurra. The journey includes sightseeing stops at the Ord River Scheme, the Hoochery Distillery, and the Sandalwood Factory, providing a delightful end to our adventure.

Our last day together is primarily for driving and sightseeing, so comfortable clothes are recommended. The tour concludes at 4:30 pm. We will drop you off at your desired accommodation in Kununurra.
Important Note: We do not recommend flying out on this day, as it can be quite a long journey out of the Bungles. Additional nights in Kununurra can be arranged upon request if you need more time to relax and explore the area.

Please make sure you book your accommodation in Kununurra well in advance as it can be quite busy at peak season and is known to be fully booked well in advance.
