ALICE SPRINGS TO PERTH ITINERARY

In reverse order to Perth to Alice

Day 1: Alice Springs to Palm Valley

Start your adventure early morning, leaving Alice Springs driving along the West McDonnnell ranges out to the Hermannsburg mission, before driving into the heart of Palm Valley. The midday drive should prove to be exciting as we embark on a river bed 4WD track known for its challenges all year round on the Finke River. Enjoy the unique river system, and the steep cliff faces.

Pending on the condition of the track, it can take a while to get in, going slow and steady as we make our way towards our first bush camp for the evening.

Depending on timing and overall running of the day, depends on if we do the walk in the afternoon or in the cool of the following morning. Either way a magical night is to be had.

Day 2: Palm Valley to West MacDonnell Ranges.

Wake up amidst the serene beauty of Palm Valley, where the morning sun illuminates the Finke River Campground. After breakfast, take a short drive to explore the unique Livistona mariae (Cabbage) palms and enjoy a final walk through this picturesque area. Then, we follow the same 4WD track out and aim for lunch on the road somewhere . After lunch, we embark on a mixture of sealed and dirt roads while we take a scenic drive to the West MacDonnell Ranges, a region renowned for its striking landscapes and diverse flora and fauna.

Arriving at our camp spot in the West MacDonnell Ranges in the late afternoon, allowing time to relax and soak in the stunning surroundings as the sun sets over the mountains.

The campsite will depend on the seasonality of the tour, and where the experience guide feels is best to have that truly remote experience.

Day 3: West MacDonnell Ranges to Kings Canyon

Start the day with an early morning in the stunning West MacDonnell Ranges. After breakfast, we will begin our journey along the Mereenie Loop Road, a scenic route offering breathtaking views and unique attractions. Our first stop will be at the Tnorala (Gosse Bluff) Meteorite Crater, an ancient and significant site that provides a glimpse into the geological history of the area.

Continuing along the Mereenie Loop, we will make our way towards Kings Canyon. The drive offers various photo opportunities and chances to spot local wildlife. By the afternoon, we will arrive at our unique bush camp near Kings Canyon, where you can unwind and enjoy the spectacular outback setting.

Depending on the time of year, an afternoon walk at the canyon maybe possible as long as it's not closed. however during the summer months and late spring the walk gets closed at 9 am due to safety concerns and we will do the walk in the following morning if this is the case.

Day 4: bush camp to Bush camp

Begin your day with an early start to beat the heat as we embark on the stunning 6.5 km walk through Kings Canyon in Watarrka National Park. This beautiful walk will take you through the majestic beehive domes, offering panoramic views and unique rock formations. We'll finish the hike just before the Rangers close the trail for the day.

After the invigorating walk, we'll head out towards Yulara, traveling along scenic routes that provide ample opportunities for photography. By the afternoon, we'll reach our bush camp. Here, you'll have the chance to relax and enjoy the peaceful outback surroundings, preparing for the next day's adventures.

Ensure you stay hydrated during the big walk in the morning. Keeping your fluids up throughout the day is essential, as it will be a long journey. We will arrive in the evening in the remote outback, where we'll enjoy another beautiful bush camp for the night

Day 5: Bush Camp to Uluru and Ayers Rock Resort

After a peaceful night at our bush camp near Yulara, we'll start the day with an early drive into Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. We'll begin with a 10 km unguided walk around the base of Uluru, exploring ancient rock art and waterholes.

Following the base walk, we'll join the Mala Walk, a cultural presentation offering deeper insights into the traditions and stories of the Anangu people. We'll then visit the Cultural Centre for more cultural presentations, enhancing our understanding of the rich heritage of the land.

In the afternoon, we'll return to camp to freshen up. As the day ends, we'll head back into the National Park to witness the spectacular sunset over Uluru. After soaking in the vibrant colors of the desert sky, we'll make our way to the Ayers Rock Resort Campground for a comfortable night under the stars.

Day 6: Yulara – Uluru and Kata Tjuta to bush camp Warburton

Start the day early with a sunrise viewing over Uluru from within the National Park. Afterward, take an exhilarating helicopter flight over Uluru and Kata Tjuta, offering unique aerial views of these iconic landmarks.

Following the included 15 min helicopter flight we head to Kata Tjuta for a guided walk in the valley of the winds, exploring the geology and cultural significance of the rock formations.

After the walk, we begin our drive west towards the Western Australia border. The journey offers scenic views and photo opportunities as we travel through the rugged outback landscape before setting up our bush camp for the evening near the border.

Another big day, as we leave reception and civilisation at this point, and we make away into the true remote areas of Australia. It can be slow going over the Sand Dunes and we will make bush camp somewhere close to Warbauton to lessen the drive on the following day.

Day 7:  Bush Camp to Gold Prospecting

Start the day early with a big drive from the east side of Warburton towards our bush camp near Laverton, approximately 560 kilometers away. This significant driving day takes us through various country areas, providing opportunities to appreciate the vast and diverse landscapes of the Australian outback.

After arriving at our bush camp in the afternoon, we'll engage in an exciting gold prospecting activity. Using gold detectors, we'll explore the gold-rich areas near at our unique bush camp, offering you the chance to find gold. This hands-on experience will be both educational and thrilling, giving you a taste of the gold fever.

  • Early start for a big drive from Warburton to a bush camp near Laverton (approx. 560 km)

  • Afternoon gold prospecting activity near Laverton

Today is one of the biggest days on the itinerary due to the distance and temperature. Remember to stay hydrated while in the vehicle so that when we go gold prospecting in the evening, you feel ready for the experience.

Day 8: Prospecting Camp to Kalgoorlie

We begin our day by leaving our prospecting camp near Laverton and driving towards Kalgoorlie. Upon arrival in Kalgoorlie, we'll undertake a tour of the Super Pit, one of the largest open-cut gold mines in the world. This tour will provide insights into the mining operations and the history of gold mining in the region.

After the tour, we will take some time to restock supplies and explore the town. Kalgoorlie offers various amenities and historical sites worth visiting.

In the late afternoon, we will head west of Kalgoorlie to set up our bush camp for the night. Here, you can relax and enjoy the tranquility of the outback before another day of adventure.

The afternoon in Kalgoorlie is quite relaxed after the past few busy days. Later, we'll head out to our bush camp on the way to Coolgardie

Day 9: Kalgoorlie to Hyden via the Emu Fence

We start the day early, leaving our bush camp west of Kalgoorlie and driving through Coolgardie on our way to the Emu Fence, one of the world's longest fence lines designed to keep emus out of agricultural areas.

As we continue our journey towards Hyden, we will arrive at Wave Rock in the early afternoon. This iconic natural rock formation, resembling a giant ocean wave, provides an excellent opportunity for exploration and photography. We will spend the afternoon exploring Wave Rock and nearby Mulka's Cave, which features the largest collection of Aboriginal rock art in all of the southwest.

After a day of discovery and exploration, we will head back to our final bush camp, allowing you to relax and enjoy the serene outback environment one last time.

The final night in Hyden can sometimes be a little windy, but we are prepared for you in the event of strong winds across the Wheatbelt

Day 10: Hyden to Perth via York

Start your day early as we depart from our final bush camp near Hyden and begin the journey to Perth. Our first stop will be at the Dog Cemetery in Corrigin, a poignant site dedicated to the beloved working dogs of the region. This unique cemetery provides a touching tribute to man's best friend and offers a glimpse into the local farming culture.

Continuing our journey, we will head towards the historic town of York, the first inland European settlement in Western Australia. Here, you can explore the charming streets, historic buildings, and enjoy a leisurely lunch at one of the local cafes or restaurants. York offers a variety of attractions, including the York Motor Museum and the Avon River, perfect for a relaxing break.

After lunch, we will continue our drive towards Perth, arriving in the afternoon. We will drop you off at your chosen accommodation in Perth, marking the end of our incredible 10-day adventure through Australia's outback.
